Special meetingsIn addition to our regular meetings we do hold one-off events and series of meetings. Some of these are detailed here: Alpha Course Each autumn we hold an Alpha Course
good place for people to explore their questions about the meaning of life - and also to explore the core teachings of Jesus. Each week starts with a meal and conversation, includes a talk, and has plenty of room for discussion. This year the course is being held from Tuesday 18th September at 7.00pm at Denmead Baptist Church, with a 'taster' meal and talk on Tuesday 11th September at 7.30pm. If you would like to come along then please Contact Us to reserve your place.
DABS Summer Holiday Club The Denmead Activity and Bible School (DABS) started in 1980 as a joint exercise between the Churches Together in Denmead, and has grown from strength to strength. It now provides a Christian-ethos summer holiday club for about 300 5-11 year olds and 24 12-13 year olds - combining singing, drama, teaching, small group work, games, competition and lots of water - erm - fun! If you would like more details please Contact Us.
Past-Times - Holiday at Home Churches Together in Denmead looked at providing a high- quality 'holiday at home' experience for older people who would not normally get a summer holiday. Combining high quality 'nostalgia' events, games, songs with good food and lively company ensured this event was a huge success. This years event is on 21st & 22nd August at All Saints Church. If you would like more details please Contact Us.
Church Family Camp Not for the faint-hearted, nor just for 'families', but enjoyed by the whole church family! Sunshine, good company, good beaches, gentle walks, a BBQ - and an opportunity to worship Jesus in a gazebo! This is all about taking time to be together in a relaxed atmosphere with space to do your own thing or to join in with others.
Day Out to Thorpe Park It 2007 10 young people and 5 adults set out for adventure and ice cream! It ended in tears, crying, wailing and the clenching together of teeth so hard they almost broke! Of course, the wise amongst you expect that to happen on roller-coasters but ignorant adults are prone to think they can cope with anything until they encounter rides like Stealth, Inferno and Vortex! 3 of the adults were sensible, they drank tea, ate ice-creams and held bags whilst the young people screamed their way to excitement. One adult took it in her stride with cool and aplomb. It was only the Minister who thought he could cope - and spent half the day longing for a nice shady place to lie down whilst his stomach stopped spinning. This was such a great event that we are repeating the event on Saturday 20th September and opening it up to the whole church. Lets see whether Danny has learnt anything from last year!
Church Family Fun Day Having previously had a Fun Day at Green Pastures, Hambledon, a team have been busily putting together another great day of Fun for September 6th. This will include a variety of stalls, a Hog Roast & vegetarian option, sports and line- dancing! For further information see the This month... page.
Of course there are also special meetings and activities at Christmas and Easter. Details of these will be included in the This Month ... page at the appropriate time.
