Senior AdultsReflecting our GOSPEL Values and clearly defined Purposes, and helping us move towards the Vision God has given us is our work amongst Senior Adults. This work is in its infancy and we expect to enhance this over the period 2007-2012 in line with our Vision. The understanding of 'Family' means valuing all generations equally and we see our society as being dominated and driven by young adults and a growing lack of respect to Senior adults. Our programme below is open to all ages and includes those who are part of this church family and many who are not.
Celebration Hymns The third Tuesday of each month, from 2.30-3.30pm, sees a gathering of about 25 mostly Senior adults who use hymns and songs from their life to share their own stories - hymns from their school days, wedding day, baptism or faith journey, the funeral of a spouse or family member, etc - all our memories are treasured and the hymns we sing can help us remember and celebrate our lives. The church has an informal 'coffee-shop' arrangement and tea and coffee are served after the main session. This is an ideal environment for those who find it dificult to get to church on a Sunday morning, or those who are looking for friendship with others in a similar stage in life. Transport may be possible so please Contact Us for more information or to arrange transport.
Green Meadows On the last Sunday of each month, from 3.00pm to about 3.45pm, and as part of Churches Together in Denmead, a short worship service is held at Green Meadows in Denmead for their residents and others who may wish to support this gathering. This is a lovely time of shared hymns, readings and prayers and you would be most welcome to join us. For directions or more details, please Contact Us.
Gentle Chair Exercise Class Every two weeks from Friday 21st September 2007 at 2.30pm we are holding a gentle chair-based exercise class to aid movement, posture and general well being in Senior adults (although these exercises are suitable for all and we welcome any one to attend the classes). Run by a qualified trainer each session will last about an hour and involve gentle movement to stretch and extend muscle movement and joints. If you would like more details then please Contact Us. |
