Overseas Mission

We understand mission to be something that is local and immediate and also follows Jesus command in Matthew

chapter 28 verse 19 to                    "Go and make disciples of all nations".

We have created a policy that seeks to make clear how we support overseas mission, which is given below:

Policy for Supporting Overseas Mission

Missionary DNA

*          Mission is central to our Values, Purpose and Vision.

*          Overseas mission is a significant part of our missionary calling.

*          We want to encourage every member to take seriously the call of God to be involved in mission.

*          We want to facilitate the release of resources to support mission overseas.

Denmead Baptist Church Missionary Policy

reflects The New Testament ways of facilitating missions:

            *          To SEND those God calls to work for Him overseas.

            *          To SUPPORT relational partners in their work for Him overseas.

            *          To give SACRIFICIALLY to mission partners overseas.

SENDING

Church Leaders will discern with any church member the call of God on their life to serve overseas through short

or long term mission.  We will firstly look at  placing people with a partner agency, and if not appropriate then

other agencies will be considered.

SUPPORTING

We currently support BMS World Mission through prayer and financial

           support.

  • We currently give prayer support for a BMS World Mission ‘link

missionary’ with others in our local Baptist Cluster.

  • We currently support Selwyn & Vijaya Moses through El Shaddai

          Ministries in Mumbai, India.

  • We currently support an orphanage of 7 girls run by El Shaddai

          Ministries in Mumbai, India.

  • We currently give prayer and financial support to a couple serving in

          South East Asia.

  • We currently give our Harvest Celebratio offering to support Operation

Agri, the mission arm of the Baptist Men's Movement.

Giving SACRIFICIALLY

We give at least

  •  7.0% of our General Fund income to Overseas Mission
  •  3.5% to UK mission through the BUGB Home Mission scheme
  •  4.0% to support local mission
  • We give additional resources to support specific events, e.g. Tsunami
  • We facilitate others giving to missionary partners e.g. Operation Agri

This policy, agreed by the Church meeting on 15th May 2007, covers the

corporate activities of Denmead Baptist Church.  We encourage every

member to personally discern the call of God and to respond as He leads –

through supporting the church in its policy and other personal initiatives as

God’s Spirit directs.
