Local Community

Denmead Baptist Church are involved in the our local community in a variety of ways, some of which you will find here.

1st Denmead Scout Group

Our Minister Danny is Chaplain to the local Scout group.  Danny visits the different sections (Beavers, Cubs,

Scouts, Explorers) as well as attending the AGM and various functions.  Several of the sections have visited

Denmead Baptist Church to see what we do and how we do it - which always raises lots of questions - especially

the bath (our baptistery!).  In recent years the Scouts have joined with us on Remembrance Sunday to parade to

the flag in the centre of the village for a short service of remembrance.

Denmead Junior School

Danny is invited to regularly lead assembly at this local Junior School and the children have commented how much

they like his lively and interactive approach.  Danny has also had opportunities to visit year 3 and 4 classes to

answer the children's questions about the Christian faith, Christian communities and Christian understanding about

 love.

Denmead Infant School

Danny is invited to take various assemblies at this local Infant School who also visit for Harvest Celebrations and

Year R's Teddy Bear Picnics in the summer.  We also enjoy Year 1 visiting for part of their curriculum looking at

aspects of the local community.

Denmead Pre-School and 'Busy Bees'

These 2 independent pre-schools in the village invite Danny to come to some  of their sessions especially around

the important Christian festivals like Christmas and Easter.  Danny often speaks at the Denmead Pre-School

Nativity.  A favourite companion of Danny who helps with his teaching is Roxy Rabbit!  Seeing is believing!

Women's Institute Games Evening

We support the young and the young-at-heart!  This fun-filled and enthusiastic games evening is not an official WI

meeting and is open to all - including - perhaps especially - men!  An evening of fun and games and light

refreshments is a welcome tonic, especially in the long winter months.
