Denmead Baptist Church

About Us

Congregation

We are a diverse collection of about 100 adult Christian

believers and 25 children & young people gathered from the

local communitiesChurch Family Lunch - Feb 2004 (for our childrens and youth work details

please see the Childrens &

Youth page).  Few of us

have a Baptist background

 - instead we share

backgrounds as diverse as

Anglican, Baptist, Brethren,

Catholic, Methodist, and Pentecostal - and no-church

background at all!  Yet we have a common identity and unity at

Denmead Baptist Church which has become a spiritual home

for us.  We try to be friendly and welcoming - but that is

something you will have to assess for yourself!

MembershipBaptism of Katie Favelle

Membership in a Baptist

Church is an important sign

of commitment to the local

body of believers and the

Lordship of Christ.  We

currently have a

Membership of about 60 members who meet bi-monthly to pray

and discuss things in the life of the church - things that affect

us, the local community and our national and international

partners.

Whilst believer's baptism is not compulsory for membership the

majority of our members will have chosen to follow Jesus

through the waters of baptism as a mark of 'dieing with Christ

and rising with Christ'.

Deacons

Deacons are elected from the Membership and bring a variety

of gifts and experience.  These men and women exercise

practical and strategic oversight of the church and are often the

driving force behind progress being made.  They seek to

encourage the church and Minister through insight and advice -

and sometimes it has even been taken!  We have not decided

whether they are too shy - or too scary - to appear on a

website ...

Minister

Our Minister is the Reverend Danny Paine-Winnett BA(Hons)

BTh.  Danny (on the right of this photo!) joined the church in

September 2003 having finished ministerial Induction of Rev. Danny Paine Winnetttraining at Regent's

Park College, Oxford.

Danny is growing in his

ministry here and leads the

church forward through

visionary and strategic

leadership, expository

(radical!) preaching, and

pastoral care.  Danny is developing good links in the local

community and our local profile has been raised considerably in

recent years.  Danny is the sort of man you can phone for a chat

(or a pint!) and he will never make you feel he's too busy.  Mind

you, the Deacons have been known to ask what he does

actually do!

PA to Minister

Danny must be doing something though because the church

has appointed a part-time PA to support Danny's notoriously

bad admin!  Terri, appointed in April 2008, supports Danny with

15 hours of admin and support.  Our vision is that she becomes

the 'hub' around which much of our activities operate.
